Fillings (Cavities)

Filling cavities with dental fillings

Cavities are the breakdown of teeth due to bacteria, also known as tooth decay. It is common for people to have cavities without knowing they do because they do not typically cause a lot of discomfort until they get worse. If you wake up with a toothache or feel a sharp pain in your mouth while eating or drinking, it’s quite possible that you have developed a cavity and should schedule an appointment with one of our dentists.

In most cases, a cavity can be fixed with a dental filling. After removing the diseased parts of the tooth and tissue, we fill in the holes with a substance that seals your tooth. This stops the decay and does not allow for further deterioration. We can also fill in parts of your tooth that are damaged to reshape your tooth.

By using the latest advances in dentistry, we are able to offer fillings that are tooth colored. Before we even get started, we match the color of the filling material to the color of your teeth so that your fillings will not be not visible.

FAQ – Fillings (Cavities)

Can I eat after getting a filling?

The short answer is yes! Composite dental fillings allow you to consume food immediately after the procedure.

How long can my fillings last?

Fillings can last for a long, long time, depending on how well you take care of your teeth, the position and size of the filling. We recommend visiting one of our dentists twice a year in order to check on its condition and have it maintained.
