Why do we request for X-rays for Invisalign treatment?

Sometimes patients are baffled when they learn their orthodontist also wants to take an X-ray for Invisalign treatment. Why is this so?

X-rays help orthodontists to come up with a treatment plan because it will show the individual location of each tooth, the roots of the teeth. For example, unusually long or short tooth root will affect how much the tooth can be shifted during treatment.

X-ray is also a very important diagnostic tool that helps the orthodontist to detect any problem that they can’t see with the naked eye, such as tooth decay, or issues with your tooth and gums. It is important to fix these underlying dental issues before you start your Invisalign treatment.

Who is suitable for Invisalign?

Both teens and adults are suitable for Invisalign treatment. Invisalign can treat most common orthodontic problems. However your suitability for Invisalign treatment can only be assessed after consultation.

FAQ – Invisalign

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Easy Maintenance

Invisalign is easy to maintain. The clear aligners can be simply removed to allow for easy brushing and daily flossing. Cleaning of the aligners can also be done easily, ensuring that good oral health is upheld.

Transparent and almost invisible to the naked eye

As Invisalign aligners are transparent, they are discreet and you can wear them throughout the day without getting noticed.

Few food restrictions

As Invisalign aligners are to be removed when you have your meals, this allows for fewer food restrictions. You can have your favourite food without worry of damaging your aligners or having food stuck in them.

How to use Invisalign?

We recommend wearing Invisalign throughout the day except during meals and when brushing your teeth

Rinse/soak your aligners on a daily basis to keep them free of bacteria

Remove your aligners when eating or drinking (except for water)

Are Invisalign results for life?

Shifting of teeth takes place throughout the course of your life. As such, we recommend that retainers be worn post-treatment to ensure that your teeth remain in position for as long as possible.
